Parkinson’s Exercise Guidelines and Why Intensity Matters

Exercise is neuro protective for people with Parkinson’s.

The American College of Sports Medicine created new exercise guidelines for Parkinson’s in 2021. These recommend people see a physiotherapist where possible, and recommends exercising during ‘on’ periods when taking medication.

Research from the Parkinson’s Foundation Parkinson’s Outcomes Project, the largest-ever clinical study of Parkinson’s, suggests that people with Parkinson’s do at least 2.5 hours of exercise a week for a better quality of life.
